Ballet began way back in the fifteenth century when dances were the norm inside the palaces of Italy. When this specific type of dance reached the shores of France, King Louis XIV, in his passionate desire to promote ballet, founded the Royal Dance Academy for this purpose. This is probably why French will be the language utilized in ballet. Ballet eventually lost its appeal in France following the eighteenth century.
